Job & Volunteer Opportunities
Careers
The Friends organization is always looking for staff who enjoy the challenge of working with vulnerable populations.
If you are a Personal Support Worker (PSW), DSW, have experience working with individuals with disabilities or with seniors, or have homemaking skills, we would like to hear from you. The agency covers a large territory so please indicate what geography you are interested in, i.e. West Parry Sound, East Parry Sound or Muskoka.
Volunteer
We welcome volunteers who are passionate about making the world a better place for seniors and individuals with physical disabilities.
Some of the supports that are needed are:
- Shoveling steps and walkways in winter
- Do you play an instrument? Sing with a choir? Your talent would be appreciated at Adult Day programs.
- Friendly visits
- Help gardening
Legacy
The Friends is a non-profit charitable organization. A bequest from an individual in Muskoka allowed the agency to renovate the old bowling alley in Gravenhurst at 141 Sharpe Street East. This derelict building is now an attractive, functioning space providing services to seniors five days a week as well as providing two affordable apartments for members of the community.
Talk with us about a lasting legacy in memory of a loved one, planning your estate in advance or a gift of stock. Your bequest will make a difference in the quality of life for others.
Donations
Gifts of any amount are always welcome. We use your donation to support transportation and program activity costs for seniors and those suffering from age related dementia. Your donation makes it possible for someone on a limited, fixed income to enjoy a day away, complete with a hot meal and fun activities. When you give online by clicking the Canada Helps logo at the bottom of this page you will receive an immediate tax receipt or if you prefer, please contact us directly.
